Down comforters can be heavenly in the summer months or when backpacking in warmer climates. They are about the lightest style of bag around, highly compressible/packable and offer great freedom of movement. They offer incredible versatility as well, I've taken one on an overnight trip into the Haleakala Crater with my 4 year old daughter. I've also used them as a comforter on longer haul flights. If you haven't tried using one in the backcountry, you may want to consider it.
